I look out the window to see
The lampu lap-lip (colourful blinking lights) shining ever so brightly
My favourite lagu raya (hari raya songs) playing loudly in the background
While my nenek (grandma) is in the kitchen
Baking kueh with my aunties
The kids are outside playing with their sparklers
Nothing can compare to this
Suasana Hari Raya (hari raya atmosphere)
Now I’m staring at my front door waiting for the bell to ring
But to no avail
When can I experience
My usual raya (short form for hari raya) again?
(because of covid ...very sad)
